EVALUATION OF GROUNDWATER SUITABILITY FOR IRRIGATION PURPOSE USING GIS AND IRRIGATION WATER QUALITY INDICES

As a major source of water for irrigation, the evaluation and assessment groundwater to ensure it meets quality sustainable agriculture is key. This research presents findings its suitability irrigation purposes. was carried out using indices Geographic Information System (GIS). The Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method GIS used study spatial distribution these indices. Indices considered include Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR), Percentage (%Na), Permeability Index (PI), Kelly (KR), Magnesium Hazard (MH), Total Hardness (TH), Residual Bicarbonate (RSBC) Potential Salinity (PS). values obtained were SAR (0.00 10.99, mean 3.43), (26.00% 94.42%, 70.33%), (94.14% 379.47%, 161.45%), 8.62, 3.19) (0.00% 80.33 %, 39.21%). (12.49 mg/L 77.50 mg/L, 31.35 mg/L), (-0.55 meq/L 5.46 meq/L, 1.41 meq/L), (0.88 2.53 1.69 meq/L) Electrical Conductivity (110µS/cm 910µS/cm, 277.14µS/cm). computed when compared with known standards show that from area generally fit can be applied
